  1. There are many areas of a typical lake that angelers may refer to as grassy
  2. areas. The classic grassy area is composed of whip grass that may extend to
  3. heights of 5 feet or more out of the water. This type of area is usually four
  4. feet deep or less. Because whip grass is not tightly spaced, bass will hold
  5. almost anywhere between the individual stems, most often near the bottom. Whip
  6. grass is extremely tough, so avoid using baits that are prone to snagging.

  9. One type of bait that seems to work extremely well in whip grass is the single
  10. blade spinnerbait. Add a trailer to the bait. Use either a plastic grub or a
  11. twin tailed grub. Make sure the hook is really sharp, and don't use a trailer
  12. hook. A lob type cast works best because there is less chance of your line
  13. wrapping itself around the tough grass. Retreive the spinnerbait rapidly, 
  14. beginning as soon as the lure hits the water. Allow it to climb over bent
  15. grass, and create as much commotion as you can.
